From oil and acrylics paints to cold wax and origami paper her creations are works unstifled by strict form or formula. Brenda strives to explore the uncharted rather than intensely studying subjects or techniques; each piece she creates is absolutely unique.
Brenda holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in design and enjoyed a successful career as an interior designer before opening her studio and focusing on creating art. Perhaps her career in interior design inspires some of her unabashed blending of materials and textures. Similar to an interior design presentation board one would present to a client, the elements present in her creations work in harmony to create an atmosphere.
Her sixth sense for visual expression has made her a sought after commodity for interior and exterior art utilized in residential, commercial, and hospitality design applications. Her work features velvety rich texture complemented by bold colors and simplified shapes which carry an essence of agrarian life. This eloquence of style has landed her art in upscale locations across the globe.
This artist is a consummate professional. She is truly able to walk the line so many artists struggle with, creating for love and creating for profit. She demonstrates you can do both without sacrificing either. She recognizes a commissioned work is like a partner dance, a graceful culmination of cues resulting in an artful expression. Her commissioned pieces truly match the space they are designed for. Each commission is custom designed for the client and includes a proposal which details the proposed work, including sketches, paint swatches of color palettes and a timeline for completion.
Brenda Allison works to create accessibility in art. She shares her passion and imparts her keen business sense to adults and youth through private art lessons and as part of the Fresno Arts Council’s Artist in the Classroom Program. She teaches her students to recognize that art is not just a painting on a gallery wall, it is in everything we do colored by human expression. Brenda explains, “‘Art’ simply put is what draws you in and enriches your life in ways that we don’t even process.”
